Default tire sizes - 05 1500 4x4

could you tell me the size difference between

255/75 17 and 265/70 17

what size tires do you guys run on your stock rams? I would like to fill out the wheel wells.
i was looking at 285s but is there a big difference between 265 & 285?

what are the next sizes up from a 265/70 17

The 285/70 is about the same as the 275/60R20 at 33 inches so they will fit fine. That is less than 1.5 inches taller than a 265/70.

Here is a neat calculater, have fun:

Converting metric size tires into imperial by hand is easy...

For example: 265/70R17...

the 265 is the section width in millimeters so take that and devide by 10 to get centimeters and then devide by 2.54 to get inches.

the 70 means the sidewall height is 70 percent of the section width, so take your new width measurement in inches and multiply by .7

take that sum, multiply by 2 and add the rim diameter and you'll end up with a fairly accurate tire diameter.

I know, I love it. I sit here for hours playing with different combos just to see what one can fit. It's nice to see the pic too so you can get a visual to how much bigger it will actually look.
