K&N 63 Series Intake Installed.
I installed a K&N 63 series intake on my truck earlier this week. It's my first performance upgrade for my truck and I am very impressed with the finished product. Power is up a little, but throttle response an torque seem to having improved quite a bit. The sound when I get on it is awesome. I had never heard one before and assumed it just sounded like air sucking in, but i was wrong. It takes a short breath and then roars through the entire RPM range. I am going to have to dicipline myself if I want to see any kind of mileage increase. I had a friend ride with me before and after the install and he was blown away by how much it improved my bottom end. As a matter of fact I am currently shopping for a kit for his Chevy.
I am overall very satisfied, but I am disappointed with the install. The instructions seemed very vague to me. Some of the pictures and instructions were jumbled and some of the pictures werent even of my vehicle. There were three different ways to mount the tube bracket and I had to go through all three before I found the right one. I also wish they would have done a better job of specifying which hardware goes where. They only said install nut and bolt here, there was nothing about sizes. I had to do the whole install twice because I ended up with bolts that didn't fit. The second time I tossed the instructions back in the box and did it all on instinct and it came out great after a little cussing and modifying. 90 minutes or less took me almost 3 hours. My only other complaints are how the tube rests on top of an AC hose and how the air temperature sensor keeps pulling itself out because of the tension on the harness. If the hole on the tube was just an inch or two lower it wouldn't be a problem.
I just figured I would share this with you guys since this forum helped me choose this product and pointed me in the direction of a good deal when buying it. Thanks again.
P.S. I could only add one picture because it said something about exceeding my maximun size with anything after that. I really don't know how to do the pictre resizing thing so if you interested in seeing pictures here's a link to my profile photo album. Sorry for the hassle.

Haha. I know. I was expecting someone to post that smiley with the billboard. I don't have any pics on my laptop right now, but as soon as I do I'll add one to my profile and see if I can remember how to post them.

I just installed a K&N 63 series myself; well a month or so ago. I had exactly the same issues with the instructions that you mentioned; in particular the tube brace.
On the positive side, I am pleased with this intake. I did have an AEM Brute Force before and I like the K&N Better. I think that with the slightly shorter tube it breathes a little better as well. But that may just be a "Butt Dyno" perspective (lol!).
I have a 3" single out exhaust with a flowmaster 50 and am using a ProComp PowerPro (Hypertech) programmer on performance mode and it is like driving a completely different (better!) beast now; even with MDS.
Good luck with future mods!
