i bought my trucks a few weeks ago...an 06 with 40k on it and i paid under 15,000 for it. the problem is that many of these used but newer rams on lots are lease turn ins, and a friend of mine who is a used car mgr at a dodge dealership told me that chrysler is demanding ridiculous prices from the dealers who are selling the lease turn ins. for a truck similar to mine, chrysler is getting 18,500 for it from the dealer.

My buddy just got one for $7,000 with 140k on it. Look for deals on craigslist.

Yup. i already went and talked with my buddy who's a GM at a local Dodge Dealership. i had asked him if I could negotiate my lease pay-off when i buy it outright next June. I was hoping to maybe get $2k knocked off and he said no. if you have a lease and want to buy it at the end. You must pay 100% of the residual. Kinda hard to beiieve that Chrysler wouldn't want to just ditch the lease vehicle even at a cost to them. that's how it always worked in the past.
Well, something has changed. Gov't?????
Not too many people are gonna wanna keep their trucks after the lease expires, especially not with the economy the way it is right now. that is one of the 2 reasons i ended up leasing. To get out in un-predictable future events and the fact that I will save $1500 for leasing it and then buying it outright granted I do a 3yr loan after the initial 27month lease and can obtain atleast a 7.49% rate which is not a problem.

Here is another one I am looking at.

Real sharp but pricey, I think. I agree that there aren't too many deals to be had. Looks like after the government take over they feel safe. Take it or leave it. I hardly see any private party listings. Craigslist are junkers.
