Default Rear Axle Leak

Hello all,

Last week, I was taking pics of my new exhaust system and I noticed a bunch of oil/grease build up on the back side of my gas tank. As I inspected further, I discovered a distinct spray pattern (ok ok...CSI fan here), that indicates that my pinion seal on the front of the axle is leaking. Sure enough...My diff fluid level is low by 3/4th inch.

My point of posting....has anyone else has had this seal leak? How common is it?

The rear is the corporate 9.25.
4.7 L
4x4
Quad Cab
just over 50k miles.
Semi-synthetic blend Rear diff oil

The dealer says it's under warranty...but I have to pay the deductible.

Again, just looking for voices from the forum.

Yeah. It happens from time to time. Mines not leaking, but the chance it will is there. Maybe the seal was knicked when they installed it or something.

All I can say is do it while it's under warranty and CHEAP! After the warranty runs out it's about a $300-$500 job to get it fixed.
