Default Got my HIDExtra HID lights. Couple ??'s.

Hey guys, I got my HID's today from HIDextra. Looks like a real nice kit. I am hoping someone can help me out with a couple questions.

First one, I guess I have to clip the factory harness to connect these? I don't see anyway to interface these with the harness w/o doing a clip and connect.

Second question is this. I want to put a HID bulb in the Hi beam side of the housing I have. Is the only way to do this to buy another Complete HID kit? Even Though the Hi and Low beam will never be lit at the same time?

And my third question is Not related to the HID's at all. To the folks that have housings with the angel eye and LED's How do you have the angel eyes and LED's wired? I was thinking of wiring the LED's to the turn signal and the Eyes to the parking lamps.

Usually the factory wiring gets disconnected from your OEM bulb and plugged into the ballast. There is a wire harness that comes out of the ballast and plugs into the HID bulb and then obviously the HID bulb goes in headlight.

Im sure you could get another HID kit and plug it to the high bewam side of the projector housing you have but then they wouldnt be in a projector and might not look right.

As for the wiring for the halos and LEDs, you can wire them into the headlights or the parks or a totally seperate switch (which is what I would do)

I haven't seen the wiring for a set of projector housings yet but I am assuming they plug in to the factory headlight plug then splits to individual pigtails for the H1 bulbs for the high and low beams. What you would need to do is purchase a second H1 HID kit and plug the pigtail for your high beam into the ballast.

Weedahoe - I apologize if this sounds ignorant but what do you mean by you can plug the HID kit into the high beam side of the projector housing you have but then they wouldn't be in a projector and might not look right. What wouldn't be in the projector? I am thinking of upgrading to projectors in the future and I'll stay with HIDs.

What I am saying is even though you have projector housings, only one side of the headlight has a projector. Now I dont have projectors although I JUST ordered a set. But from the way this picture looks, only one side has a projector and the other side is just like a regular headlight with a bowl and a bulb in the middle. Make sense? Now my thing is this, Im sure Chad does it but I know Tim does and what I mean is he has a Bi-Xenon4 kit and a Aftermarket Projectors Housings Kit that you will need.

Now.....being I already have have an existing Bi-Xenon kit (9007) I am going to simply change out my bulbs to H1 so I can use them in my projectors. But that will leave me an empty hole for the high side right? Well first of all, my 9007 HIDs put out more than enough light and so much that Ive never even used my HID highs. But for the sake of having them and because H1s are single beam bulbs, I see no reason to sell my existing kit at a loss simply to pay more for another kit of 260-285. The problems of flashing and strobing are from the computer trying to control and lights. So i will just go to Ebay and order another H1 HID kit (60-ish bucks or so shipped) and wire it to one of my extra switches in my center console. That way I could potentially burn the low HIDs with the steering column switch AND burn my high HIDs with an external switch that is powered from the battery and not PCM controlled so I wont get any flashing. Make sense?

On top of all of that I am thinking of trying to retro a small HID projector into the high side of the projector housings being only the low side has projectors. That would make it a dual projector housing. But I dont have my housings yet so IDK if they will accept a 2.5'' projector and if then need to be smaller which IDK if they make or not.

Those are the same housings I have now. I didn't think about wiring a seperate switch for the Hi beams. Although, How are you going to avoid the lamp out?

My current setup has resistors inline to keep the "Lamp Out" at bay. So I will be using the same setup as I have it now but simply changing the 9007s to the H1s. That will give me a HID low beam controlled though the coomputer. The missing high beam wont matter because the PCM will not know it is gone because there are already resistors there in place to trick it. The extra HID H1 kit I wll buy on ebay will get it power from the battery and not be tied into the trucks PCM circuits anywhere so I wont have to worry about the "Lamp Out" issue on that. Again, those lights will be controlled through a seperate switch.

Ok, So I just need a resistor in between the HI beam wire and ground? Then wire in the Hi beam bulb on a seperate switch all together? Is that correct? What size resistor?

That would be Nice, It would allow me to have the Brights, Low beam projections and all 6 fogs on the same time. When I get the fogs moved over to HID, Ill be able to light up a really nice area, lol.

Here is a link to resolve any Lamp Out lights on the dash when not having/using resistors. Here are some pics of the resistors that came on my kit BTW.

You will have to replace the ******** with the one work Dodge Talk as it gets removed

Dog, here are some pics for you. I have a total of 3 switches plus the one for my cutout. One rocker for my air compressor, one was future planned for my future Hella and The other was for future unknown but I think I just figured out what that is going to be for. Oh yeah Dog, I just bought some projectors for you....LOL
