Default Pros and Cons of 35s

I have a 2004 ram 1500 SLT Q/C 4x4 running 285x70 R17 BFG all-terrains. Thinking of putting on 315x70 R17s. What would be the minimum leveling kit required to squeeze these in there. I shouldn't need anything kind of a lift in the back...right? Anyone ever run these in sever winter conditions? Heard that 285s work better in the snow and ice given the narrower width but I can't see it making that much of a difference. Any ideas on extra stress on stearing components / suspension? One of the local dodge dealers warned me about these but I figure it has to be pretty safe. Pros and Cons of the 315s? Any ideas would be great.

yes, the narrower tire is better in snow, but a more aggressive tread could make up for it. pros? awesome looks, great performance off road, etc. cons? faster wear on the suspension, worse gas mileage, more expensive. you may find a 33" is better suited for you unless you do any offroading.

Not a big fan of 35's on a leveled truck and I disagree with AF_Hemi on this one, you'll get WORSE performance off-road with 35's than 33's because you will have little room for any articulation of the suspension components with the 35s. Now if you had about 3" of lift with the level, it'd be a different story.

With just a level kit, go with the 33's, less cost, less wear on front end components, more versatility for you...

I am assuming you mean worse performance offroad when coupled with just a level. 35s offer a larger contact patch for better traction. So it really depends on your offroading and how much articulation you need vs how much traction you need.

Oh yeah, no question, but you gotta have the clearance for them was my point. IMO just a level is not enough...
