Practicallity and Off Roadability
Hey, I'm looking to get a setup with a practical off road usage to it. I don't want to fill the wheel wells with tire and lose articulation. I have a bunch of friends that are in the MilitaryJeepers club and they wheel a lot. I would like to go out with them and be able to keep up on some of the trails. The biggest issue I see to my truck vs. a Jeep is length. I would "high center" much easier and also not be able to make some of the turns that they can.
So I guess what I'm saying is, can anyone recommend what size lift and tire setup to use? A 6" sus lift with 35-37's or a 4" sus lift with 35's for less strain on the original drive train?

Tagalong question- How do I change my vehicle under my name to my truck not the Druango?

Just remember a 4" lift with 35s gives you the same ground clearance as a 6" lift with 35s, and puts the CV axles at an angle which would put a lot less strain on them.
I have plenty of room with 4" of suspension lift for wheel travel (just look at pics in my album).
But don't think you will go where a Jeep will go, it's got a much shorter wheelbase, much better angle of approach and departure, and has a real axle in the front capable of having a lockers or LSDs in both the front and rear axles.
However, you should still be able to go out and enjoy yourself with them...

What kind of off-roading are we looking at? Are you gonna be doing trails, rock-crawling, hitting the whoops and jumps?
Depending on what kind of off-roading you're looking at doing, it will alter the parts/setup you'll need.

It will mostly be for trails, it's also the daily driver. I'm not worried about gas, 12mph now isn't great to start with. But yes, it will be mostly for running trails and gettin dirty.
Hammer, I definitely understand that I will not be able to go everywhere a Jeep does. I would just like to be able to go on the same trails that these guys go on.
