Default 4.56 gears

Anybody have a drawing about the machining that has to be done on the pinion of the 4.56 gears to make them fit the 9.25 rear axle(and or front axle ).
I saw a little while ago a drawing posyted somewhere but i can not find it anymore.
Anybody can help me with that??

You dont have to machine anything for a 9.25. They go right in. You can even go 4.88 if you have a 2wd.

No, hes talking about having to shave the pin on the carrier so it will turn and not bind. I just had this exact same issue on mine. Lemme see if I can find it.

[EDIT] Here is the link below. You will have to replace the ********with Dodge Talk

thanks weedahoe
I read in many of your replies that you first did the rear change to 4.56 and later the change in the front, is that correct. And how did you prevent problems with different gears in the front and rear axle? Did you simply not use 4x4 or sdid you remoce the driveshaft to the front axle ?

This is certainly good news; I did not know you could go to a 4.88 without ANY additional modifications - just bolt them in on a 2WD 9.25!

Yukon and Genuine both make 4.88s for the 9.25 rear that are bolt in...

Well it wasnt me because I only have a 2wd but I can tell you it is possible to change the rear and then the front later BUT you CANNOT engage the 4x4 with two different gear sizes or you WILL have major damage. IMO, save your pennies and get both done at the same time.
