Default Any thoughts on this CEL?

What's up guys, the other day my CEL came on in my new-used truck...lol the same day I bought it. I was pissed, but I got it checked up at autozone and it got coded P0406, the EGR valve. So no biggie, I figured I would just try to clean it first, and clear it and then see if it came back on and if it did THEN I would just replace it.

Anyway, yesterday after work I go out to my truck and notice that my CEL turned itself off? lol. I didn't even know that it could do that, but it just wasn't on anymore.

What do you guys think happened?

Yeah, I guess you're right lol.

I just thought it was weird that the CEL just turned off on it's own yesterday?

Anywhere after about 40k miles you can expect the EGR valve to go bad on a hemi.

77k.

Yeah I'll just order one and replace it and clean the throttle body while I'm in there like Silver said.

How much should I expect to pay for one of these? Nick said someone got one for only 40 /w shipping cuz he ordered it online?

My egr code would go on for about a week and then go off..... it did this a few times and was pretty annoying because the 2 times i was about to go to autozone to get the code, it was off. I tried cleaning mine just to try it but i had already ordered the part. Easiest fix i'd say and my truck ran noticeably smoother and the overhead says my gas mileage is a little better also... but im sure my was gunked up real good because i drove mine for awhile before replacing it with the light on

Have you tried a local parts store? I can get one at advance for around 40 with no shipping.
