Edge programmer questions
Hi all, got questions for all the owners who use the hemi version of the Edge programmer.
1) what setting do you use the most?
2) have you had any issues with it(in that setting)
3) would it be ok to run the extreme program for long periods of time?
4) what kind of mileage difference are you seeing in the setting(s) you use?
thanks in advance for all your help.

I use #2 unless i want to see what the truck will do. it seems to be the best for mileage but #4 wasn't much worse. I get 2 mpg better on the overhead meter. I also get 30-40 miles more on half a tank if i use a mix of shell 87 and 91.
im planning on getting a programmer and am leaning towards the edge for the gains listed. Im curious as to which settings i may be inclined to use with it, and the effects/results from them.
I wouldn't get their controller because they tell you the gains are higher than other controllers. Because that's not gonna happen.
Edge, Superchips, Diablo all are gonna be within 5-10% of each other and that's with edge at the bottom.
Honestly, i don't know that any of them are gonna produce more power than the Diablo Predator simply because they have on the dyno many many times. Hypertech and Edge both seem to write their tunes from a desk! I don't like programmers that have limited access and no way to customize the tunes.
Also, both SC and Diablo have MDS delete which, lemme tell ya, once you turn it off, you'll never go back. The shifting and downshifting is just so much smoother. These trucks should have come from the factory this way. SC and Diablo both have transmission functions that defeat any other tuner. I personally love Diablo's Partial Upshift controls. I program when I want my truck to shift from 1st-2nd all the way up the gears. Depending upon pedal position (10%,20%,30%...etc) the truck will hold the shift until it gets to the desitred rpm you programmed. I never use tow/haul siince I have programmed the setting to my likes. It's hard to understand unless you actually go through the process. Anyways, while towing and going up a hill, I have set my upshifts so that the truck won't upshift and then downshift going all herky jerky on me. The truck stays in the lower gear until the top of the hill or the desired rpm is reached. it's one word...Awesome!
here's an example. I have my truck set at 30% throttle 2600rpms. 40% throttle 3100rpms 50%throttle 3600rpms..etc in 1st gear(these are just reference numbers) This means that when I'm in 1st gear going down the road and have 30% throttle pressure on the pedal the truck WILL NOT shift untill I reach 2600rpms or until I let off the gas.
I initially bought the programmer to do one thing....To disable the MDS. It was worth the expense for that alone. This other stuff is icing on the cake. it's well worth the money. I never even cared to look at what gains they stated because you can NEVER go by Manufacturers statements as everything is decieving and is all about sales. I'm willing to bet that the Edge won't put 15hp to the rear wheels in Max mode.

He's right you can't disable mds, but the gauge package is almost worth it alone. as far as numbers, edge has a dyno chart on their web site. with all the evolutions out there if the dyno numbers were wrong someone would have taken them up on it.
Something aint right with their numbers. They show Diesels on most of their graphs because Diesels are gonna get the most gain. They show the 5.7L Hemi as only having 205rwhp and 230rwtq. I call B.S. On their numbers. Stock Hemi's are 240-265rwhp and 260-290rwtq depending on Mustang dyno or Dynojet where there's a 12-16% difference betwen the 2.
Edge shows the gain as 240'ish rwhp/270'ish rwtq (estimates) That's otherwise STOCK for the Hemi, so obviously the numbers are ascewed.

dirtydog, you do bring up some interesting points with the shift mod ability, actual power aside, you cant use it without other mod possibility. I will take that into consideration and do some research on the diablo system too. i have a friend with an edge, he likes it but has to use a second programmer too to make up for a function the edge doesnt work with. hmm i will do some more thinking on which programmer to choose.
i wouldnt even consider edge. there is a reason why they only support the 07s... they dont want to spend time on the hemi pcm so i would look at superchips or diablo. superchips new trans features are going to be money!!!
