Hemi identification via VIN

Hemi identification via VIN
I cannot find any information on the difference between the “D” and “2” code in the VIN with regards to engine type. Can anybody give me help with this?

What year is your truck? The only year I see "2" as an engine code is 2008, and it corresponds to the Hemi. A "D" code on a 03-08 also corresponds to the Hemi, although with no noticeable difference. It may refer to an MDS or non MDS Hemi, and the HD series did not come with MDS.
