Default Guys with 305's on stock 20's chime in.

So i was looking under my truck the other day and noticed how close the tire is to the upper control arm. Now the stock 275/60/20 is 10.8" wide by industry standards and is barely .5" away from my upper control arms.
putting 305's on there would increase the width to 12". That's another 1.2" in overall width. That means .6" get added to each side of the stock size tire to get to the 305 size. i don't have room for .6" of clearance. Any guys have issue's? i haven't heard of anyone complain of 305's hitting on stock 20's with no spacers. I just wanna get my facts straight. Here are pics of my tire and UCA. The gap looks larger than what it is so I put my skinny pinky finger in there to show you perpective.

edit*** I have to add this in because I guess I wasn't specific enough. Guys running 305's on stock 20's, HOW CLOSE to the upper control arm are you? That was really my question.

You should be fine. I'm running 305/50/20s and haven't had any issues. Can do full turn without anything rubbing.

Do you have the stock 20" rims*, and if so, are you using a spacer? I've been wondering the same thing, because I was looking at getting the Cooper Zeon's in 305/50r20, but didnt want to pay for new rims. And I have just about the same amount of room as dirtydog showed in his pics.

*Well, nevermind about the rims, I see in your sig pic you do have the stock 20" rims.

No I'm not running a spacer.

I just went out and looked. I have about 3/16-1/4 inch between the tire and the UCA. Couldn't even fit my pinky in it

Well that is good to know, since I didn't know if they would fit or not with the stock rims. And a correction, I was looking at the LT305/55r20, not the 305/50r20, even though the LT305/55 tires cost $100 more than the 305/50 tires.

Have Pirelli Scorpion ATR 305/55/20's on Stock rims on my 04 4x4 QC. They are 33.2" vs the stock 33" of the 275/60's - fit great - and look massive over the stockers.... Plenty of clearance and no rubbing....
