My check engine light on my 02 has been on for a while now. Lately on cold starts its taking longer and longer to start and sounds rough and runs rough until I get around a couple blocks away from the house. If I turn it off and then crank it while its hot,no problem. Just the other day on the freeway I attempted to pass and when I floored it , it acted like it wanted to turn off and did not accelerate. it has 57k miles and Ive already tuned it up and used fuel injector cleaner more than once. Its gradually getting worse and seems like ive lost horse power. Any advice? I forgot what it was calle dbut the dealer did some type of pressure cleaning to my injectors and told me that if it is my fuel pump then they would have to remove my entire bed to drop the tank. $$$$$

 

Could be the pump...rent a pressure tester and hook it up to your schrader valve on the fuel rail. Could be one or more bad injectors too which could be leaking fuel from sitting or just not operating correctly after sitting all night.

They pull the bed so that they don't have to drop the tank...if there's a lot of fuel in there that's the best way. Otherwise for me it's easier just to drop the tank.

 

Ive got a spare pump but if you want to drop your tank and hotwire it to check its functionality then Pin 1 is ground and Pin 4 is 12v.
