87 vs 89 in a Hemi
I know I know, run the 89 or live in fear or **** going wrong in the engine. I haven't put anything EXCEPT 89 in the truck since I got it, but today my dad took it when I was asleep and filled it up a little bit so he could drive wherever he needed to go. It didn't register I guess when I was half asleep but as soon as I woke up I was like you put 87 in it didnt u and he said yeah. I know a quarter tank of the stuff isn't going to blow my engine to hell, but the reason I am posting is this...
TL;DR version:
When I got in my truck today and it had 87 octane in it instead of the usual 89, it seemed so much quicker...Is this normal? Why?

No idea lol.
Nick told me that he thought 87 might be better for lower end HP or something like that, so I was trying to see if that was the case. All I know is that the truck seemed a lot quicker today than it did yesterday, and that was the only difference.

Lol maybe. I tried to watch the RPMs and keep them the same and it still seemed that way to me, but bleh
I'm with Severe on this one, it's in your head. If anything, your truck should be slower, since the PCM will pull timing to prevent predetonation with 87 octane... If you are noticing a bit more "pep" in the engine today, I'd bet on the weather rather than the gas. Changes in air temp, humidity and pressure will affect your engine's performance more than changing a grade of gas.

yep, i agree. does it seem faster right after you wash it also?
Yeah that's what I thought. I was expecting it to be a little bit LESS peppy, if anything, and that's why I was surprised. Oh well haha I guess I'm just imagining it, or it's just the weather=\
