Smile New Dodge owner here. Some questions...

Hey there! So i've owned a few trucks in my day, but this is my first Dodge. I'd have to say i'm pretty proud of this truck. This thing is solid and has plenty of power. After only having the thing a few days I have some questions that you other owners might be able to answer:

Stock stereo:
So i'd like to upgrade the stock deck, but my problem is the "wood" molding around is arched around the *****. I don't want to get rid of that molding, but how could I make another, aftermarket deck look decent? Here is a photo to see what I'm speaking of:

Rear Speaker Boxes:
Unlike my previous F150, this dodge has good room under the seat for sub boxes that doesn't require a seat lift. The question is, which one? Downward facing subs? Upward facing? Who has tried what, and what sounds the best?
Examples:

Exhaust:
I've noticed the FLOWMASTERŽ DELTA FLOW™ 40 SERIES is a pretty popular muffler for most trucks. Anyone use it on their Dodge? Do they like it? Anything better for the money?

Intake:
I haven't had much time to do any research on Dodge Ram intakes, but what do you experienced/knowledgeable members think or prefer?

Your opinions are much appreciated and would be a big help to me and i'm sure many others. Thanks for any help and advice you can throw at me!

I cannot answer the stereo questions, but as for the Flowmaster 40, several folks run those. Some run Magnaflows, AeroTurbines, etc. I posted a comparo somewhere around here... Do some searching, there are a lot of mod-a-holics around here! Welcome to the DodgeForum!

i have a foxbox with two 10" kicker comps, not mind numbing bass but does awesome with my choice in music, gotta love the endless double bass kicks from ffdp! intakes everyone has their own opinion, i went with a ebay kit and put a high end filter on the end of it, you can make your own the basic idea is to get rid of the hemi hat. the bfi is pretty impressive. exhaust is all in what you want. flowmaster has a good sound but is pretty restrictive, magnaflow flows good if not the best. me i had a flowmaster super 44 dumped than dropped that and got a cherry bomb extreme si/do coming out at the corners of the bed and it sounds freakin awesome for a 4.7

Its interesting you say that about your subs as I prefer to listen to acdc, metallica, van halen, etc so I'm not looking for the rap bass to compete with the ricer next to me. Do you perhaps have any links to your preferred subs/box and exhaust? Thanks again for your reply

Anyone here will say that Fox acoustics is the best box out there. If you can get a reply from them, you will be very happy w/their box.

I can't say much for sub boxes because i have a megacab with a regular truck box behind the seat. Holds one kicker solo baric 10". It gets the job done cause the roof line can vibrate. I have a vararm cai, works awsome. Throttle response has increased tremendously. that is all i have.hop eit helps u in your quest for mods. Plus the cai is huge and the tubing was a biatch to run, just a heads up if u go with that one.

Lots of folks say the FM is crap, and several folks recommend MagnaFlow for the exhaust. I don't have either one. I bought a two-chamber Thrush from Jeg's for $32. LOL

Sounds good - can't complain.

Welcome to the forum BTW.

Thanks for the reply goathog, but it seems the fox acoustics box is for mega cabs only. Not to mention they don't have a photo on their site and it's a bit pricey compared to other boxes. Thanks again for the reply though.

Thanks for your input megablacktank and rssjib. I'll have a look into the vararm intake.

Wow i'm lovin' this truck the more I drive it. However I noticed that it doesn't have a tow package.. It has the tow/haul button, but no hitch.. Has anyone come across this? Whats the average cost to adding one?
