Default Differential flush turns into 2000 dollars in repairs

so i took my truck to a friend who works for a deal to get my diffs and my trans flushed. started with the trans went smooth as can be no metal around the magnet and it was in very good condition for having 112000. then we took the hub off the back diff and all hell broke loose. i had one of the two clips that hold the posi unit in place had broke off so i was informed i had about anouther three thousand miles before it broke completely. so a week goes buy and i find a differential unit for 300 bucks i buy and take it to be installed the second clip had fallin off and was wedged between the unit and the hub and i had a pretty little groove dug in to my case luckly i changed it in time before i needed a whole new end. then i start hear a tick in my engine bay. luckly that was an easy 15 dollar fix i guess the pvc valve just needed to be changed. then out of the blue my engine starts to heat more than normal. so i flush the radiator and change the thermostat and got nothing. so i changed the clutch fan thinking it wasnt cooling correctly. well nothing happened so i got fed up bought two new radiators accidently and installed a new radiator. problem fixed when i took my radiator apart i instead of being black on the inside it was covered in a white powder and it was clogging the fluid from flowing freely. then my front crank seal was leaking. cheap part but pain in the *** to change

so if you have a 03 dodge ram 4.7 either ur diff, radiator, pvc valve, radiator hose(had the same hose blow twice), or front crank seal will go bad keep an eye out of those things and other than that the truck will run for a very long time.

thanks for listenin to my rant hopefully my experience will help you fix any problems u got

fyi i got an extra radiator sitting around anyone interested pm me

My 03 Hemi had exactly the same problems.
Radiator clogged and the dreaded clutchpack retaining clips issues.
Still.......there's a silver linning in this and no, not in the diff oil with was silver in colour ha ha ha.
I now have a DTT in my rear and traction is excellent with no more worries.

Yeah I had those clutch pack retaining clips (CPRCs) break on mine also and they pulled them about and flushed the diff. Later on though I replaced it with a Auburn LSD and 456s as I came across a deal. It a shame that SO many ppl have issues with those and Dodge does nothing real about it.
