Jeff, how did you add the 34 gallon fuel tank? Did you have the dealer do that, some where else, or do it yourself? Im so annoyed with this 20 gallon tank, I use to drive a suburban with a 42 gallon tank and could go for a month sometimes on one fill up. So ya ive been wanting to put a bigger tank in. Any info appreciated.

The 245x70r17 were listed as "standard" on mine, but it had the optional 265x70r17

Default RE: fuel tank size!

I also owned a GMC Sub with a 40 gallon tank (1991). I loved it.

It wasn't until someone punctured my fuel tank ( and broke a window and cut my battery cables - alarm) that I made the change. I had to do some negotiating with the dealership to get 'er done. Since I own a 2003, no 34 gallon fuel tanks are currently menufactured for it. However, a 34 gallon 2005 fuel tank works fine. They wanted to change the sender as well ($500.00 more). I suggested we try the one I already have. It sends the fuel just fine but my fuel gage and computer tell me I'm out when I still have 8 gallons left.

They had to buy the extra strap and the extended heat shield at a cost of approximately $40.00.

If I were one of you trying this without the puncture, I would be calling and checking out the junk yards. My understanding is you can buy one for about $250.00 including the heat shield (if you can find it). About $480.00 new.
