Default mileage/Insurance costs

hey. a few months from now im planin on replacing my current car (a crappy ol' civic) with something good: a Dodge Truck (or, maybe a car)
i was just wondering
1.) what is the average mileage a ram 2500 diesel gets vs. a 1500 5.9 vs. 1500 5.7 on a gallon of fuel. *though, mileage will not be the determining factor here, im just wondering*
and 2.) what are insurance costs for the 3 trucks listed above. yea.. i know insurance varies person-to-person but, like, which would be cheaper and which would be more expensive.
thanks.

All I can tell you is I get about 14 in the City and 18 on the hwy with my Hemi. I don't dog it but I consider myself a "spirited" driver

My ins is about to change but it was $148 a month ($7 includes the BII) and my coverages are 50/100/50 with Progressive.

I'm pretty sure the more Expensive the vehicle the more your gonna pay for ins... depending on your coverages. You may wanna hop on Progressive.com, they allow a free online quote and you can tweak your coverages & change vehicles to get an idea of what you'll be paying. Even if you end up going with a different company it should get you a ball park...

A couple of years ago I bought a 2002 Dodge Ram 4.7 and traded in my 2001 Chevy S-10 2.2
My insurance with Farm Bureau dropped by $4 per month. I thought it was a misquote and asked my agent about it and he stated that the Dodge was a much safer vehicle than the S-10 thus the reason for the pricing.
