I have a stripped down (work truck) 2008 1500 V6 with stock 245/70R17 tires. I will probably be getting fender flares. I don't plan on getting new rims. I'm a gun and coin guy...not a tire guy. Am I right in assuming a taller tire will raise the truck up a little? I wouldn't mind them being a little wider (I don't want them protruding past the fender flares I will be getting). What is the TALLEST tire I can put on my truck without rubbing? Any help would be appreciated.

The tires that come on the 20" wheels are 33" tall, much bigger than that you need a leveling kit.

About the widest you can go is about 265 with those rims. I got a set of 18s wrapped in 275/65/18 LT tires, but the upper ball joint nearly popped my sidewall on both front tires. I had to find a set of 1/4" spacers to make them work, which also made a wide truck even wider.
