Hella 500 weekend
I recently got back from visiting family, and I was lucky enough to spend some time under the hood with my father. We installed the Hella 500 foglights behind the grille last Saturday, with minimal problems. The biggest one being trying to take off the driver side headlamp assembly, one big pain in the ***. The instructions were straight forward, allbeit in German, but the pictures even made sense so it's all good. I still have to aim them correctly, right now the left one hits cars right in the windshield, so I can't turn them on yet.
We used two pieces of aluminum that are about 4 inches long, 3 inches wide, and about 1/4 inch thick for the supports. They are attached to the two inner bolts securing the front wheel wells. Then after soldering the wires together and using some corrugated tubing and electrical tape to make the connections weather resistant, it was just a matter on connecting the switch and finding a suitable place for it. I chose the auxilary place just under the main light switch. it works out for placement and seems to just naturally fit with aesthetics. I try and get some pictures taken and post them shortly, but the camera seems to have been misplaced during the trip.
