I must admit that the VR is not constructed with the highest regard to strength. But that begs the question- how tough does an intake need to be? It's not part of the suspension. It has no moving parts. Why does it need to be "tough"?

As far as the performance of the intake... I am having a hard time accepting Force's experience. I have had several intakes from drop in filters, to the mopar intake, to ****ter pipe intakes. Although they all varied in sound/noise output, they all had one thing in common- no effect on performance. And then I got the VR. The performance is definately there and I find suspect anybody claiming to have experienced otherwise.

There are only two intakes worth considering, the VR and the BFI. If you want old skool retro, get the VR. If you feel the need to have a "tough" intake in case some bad guys climb into your engine bay, get the BFI. Either one will deliver. The rest are a waste of time.

Thanks Rubberfrog. It sounds like it may not be best suited for my truck with the amount of mud my truck sees, I'm mostly concerned with sucking mud through the ram air tubing with it being mounted in the front bumper. If it is in fact flimsy that's just a recipe for disaster.

I have heard nothing but positives about it performancewise however so when I decide to switch it back to a pavement princess Vararam will definetely be under the hood.

I wouldn't recommend it for a muddin truck. This is really a street truck mod... which is why I'll be getting rid of mine eventually. The next one will be a BFI.

ya, I would either go with a BFI or vararam. I havent heard any negatives about any of them. the rest out there are a waste of money imo.

I have a BFI and I noticed a big difference.

I haven't seen a BFI around here but I have nothing but praise for the Volant as long as you spend the extra money for the ram air tube (granted you dont have foglights) I noticed better mileage and noticeably more power. I've also never had issues with mud getting sucked into it suprisingly as it sucks air from the foglight opening as well as between the airbox and fender.

to better use the vr why not open the top of it up with a rubber seal around it that meets the bottom of the hood and open up the hood scoop some have? real induction then
