Angry Another P0456 code with water in the exhaust

2005 Ram with the hemi. Truck gave me the P0456 code so the first thing I did today was replace the gas cap (from the dealer) and the code remained. I didn't reset the computer because I read the code would go away on its on if in fasct it eas the gas cap?

I park my truck in the driveway on a slight upward incline and have notice water deposits left behind after I pull away. This has been going on for a couple weekd now. Today I looked under the truck right after starting it up and I can see water dripping from the bottom/low point of the main muffler, before it exits to the back exhaust.

Any thoughts on this? At this rate my muffler will rust out if the water continues. Do you think the two are related? I finally bought me a haynes service manual today so I can try and find all the different hoses/lines etc...

the water is a byproduct of combustion, the po456 is a small evap leak you should check out all the evap hoses see if there are any cracks or holes or loose connections. If you cant see any, clear the code and see if it comes back. If it does you will either have to live with it or have somebody smoke it with a smoke machine.

Diagram of your entire evap system is in the FAQ section. Agreed, you are probably going to find a bad hose clamp or a crack in a hose...

I need to spend more time inspecting the hoses but the few I checked appeared to be fine.

When I went to put fuel in today i didn't hear any pressure being released when I removed the gas cap. I never paid attention to this before so I don't know if this is a bad thing or if its normal. Do you guys have that hiss when you remove the gas cap?

Thanks for the diagram Hammer, that was real helpful. Don't some of these lines also go into the engine compartment that I should be looking at?

I searched the forum and the net and can't find one place that traces all of the lines but i did find alot postings about the same problem I'm having.

You'll spend days feeling up every hose... make friends with someone who has a smoke machine, it'll help you find the leak real quick. Good luck!

Well the CEL turned itself off today!!
After I put on the new gas cap I took around 9 trips over 6 days for around 250 miles +/-.
I guess the computer needed to read several starts before it confirmed the leak (P0456) went away??

Either way, I hope it stays off.

Are we suppose to have vapor pressure building in our gas tanks after we drive? I don't hear anything when I remove my gas cap, no sound of of pressure escaping, vapors releasing, nothing.......................

If anyone thinks about it next time you remove the gas cap let me know.

Thanks
