Default Champion plugs..

I bought a mopar hemi tune up kit of ebay, on the box of the champion plugs with the mopar logo, it says plugs are good for two years, unlimited mileage.

So whats with dodge asking you to swap out the plugs every 50,000 km ( canada )

16 plugs, air filter, oil filter, egr valve, for 125.00 Cdn. before GST.

to make more money and make your truck run more efficiently.

by buddy has a 97 s-10 and it recommends to replace the plugs every 100,000 miles. lol right in the owners manual too...

Change them every 30-40k miles as needed. Some iridium plugs will last longer, but these engines seem to run best on good old copper champions.

Your buddies S-10 calls for plugs every 100k miles because it uses platinum plugs which have a much longer serviceable life than a standard copper top plug. Just as my CHRYSLER made Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.7 HO engine does.

For some reason, not only does the Hemi call for standard copper plugs, but seems to absolutely hate the higher end (and longer lived) platinum and iridium plugs.

So go with the regular old copper plugs and change them at 30k...

I'm planning on changing my spark plugs next weekend. I have an 08 Hemi with all the plugs under the coil packs. I know on my old 318 when I did my tune-ups I replaced the plugs, wires, distributer cap, and rotor. On my Hemi I don't see any wires and I don't know where ther distributer cap is or even if there is one. So my question is with a tune-up on a newer Hemi are the spark plugs the only things that new replacing or are there other things?

thats a bunch of BS, not only did I not bother to change my plugs till I felt like it which was around 50K or so with almost no noticeable difference in performance from new but I used the Bosch Platinums as the replacements and I honestly cant tell any difference from them when it was new either... Even with my Diablo tune I have absolutely no problems with spark. Chrysler just wants to scare their customers into thinking that you have to buy what they say or else... whatever.

Hate to disagree with you there Vipers but its not BS. If your truck runs good on Plats then you are one of a few. More often than not the Hemi don't run as good on the plats thats why most people will recommend the coppers.

That is strange that the platniums do not work in the hemis, They are easier to fire and fire more effiecently, I would guess the fine electrodes are letting the hemi quench the spark, try a smaller gap and they should work fine..
