Wheel Ride Comfort
probly been posted/discussed before, but im about to be able to get new tires, and im probly just gonna go ahead and upgrade wheels to. theres great deals all around my area for dodge wheels and the like.
i wanted stock dodge 20s, from the newer models.
then ive been seein some really good deals on 22s here recently.
just wondered if any of yall noticed a difference in ride quality depending on the size wheels. i know itll affect it some but how much is what im wondering.
ill be upgrading from 17s.

I upgraded from my stock 20" rims to a set of 22s. I run a 305/45-22 size tire and can barely notice a difference from the stock 275/60-20 tires. I switch back to the stocks for winter and hardly notice the difference (except for crappy Goodyear traction). However I'm going to powder coat my 22"s and ditch the stocks all together.
Going from 17's to 20's you will notice a stiffer ride, but with that comes handling. You will be able to corner better and have a touchier steering wheel. Going from 17's to 22's will be waay stiffer.
My Mustang had 17" wheels on them stock. wrapped in 245/45/17 rubber. The ride was fine. I then bought 245/40/18 wheels/tires and OMG the ride was unbearable bouncy. I sold them and went back to 17's. I was amazed on how much stiffer the ride was.
Going from a 17"-20" will be a bigger change as far as ride/handling goes than going from a 20"-22" however, the 22" is a rougher ride. Prolly more than you'd want. I think guys on here that have 22's are just used to tiny rubber and aren't used to a plush ride so they are confused...lol
I drove a friends with 22's and compared to my 20's. It was rougher and I didn't like it. Just going from stock Warngler HP's to my Cooper LTZ's the ride got rougher because it's a thicker and much more HD tire. Not to mention rougher ride will creak and rattle every piece of plastic on the inside after while. As my friends has started to living here in NY.
In the end. Most guys with 20" wheels won't mind the 22" difference, but jumping from 17" to 22", I think you will find it bumpy and rough.
