Default Water Pump Every 50k????

2004 Dodge Ram 1500 Quad 4.7. At 50k my waterpump bearings were shot. I bought a new pump, no problems. That was 2 years ago. Now to the present, the pump is leaking, just recently went over 100k. Are these water pumps only good for 50k or what?

OEM. It looks like it is leaking around the edge, maybe gasket leak. But if I am going to do it I might as well replace the whole thing.

I had a company van when I owned my networking business, a Cheby Astro. The thing absolutely ATE water pumps. Could count on having one put in every 30-40k miles over the 120,000 miles I had it. Other than that, the thing was a workhorse, bought it with 35k on it (and had to do the water pump within the first two months we had it), and when I sold it along with the business, it had almost 160k miles on it and other than normal maintenance and wear-and-tear things like belts/hoses/etc., never had any other issues.
I guess if all else works well, it could be worse than having to do a water pump every 50k miles for you...
