Exclamation concerns about tire size

so all this time ive been waiting on new tires for my truck. i finally got a smokin deal on a set, but now i have worries... im going to 20's, using the factory '03 "flower power" style rims. the tire size i will be running is 295/45/20. my concern is with that rim and tire combo, will the tires stick out past the fenders??? im runnin 285/60/17's now and its pretty close.

tuned93,

I use the heck out of the online "tire size calculators". Here is the link to the one I like the best; particularly because you can compare to flotation tire sizes as well.

http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCal...?action=submit

Your new tires look to be just under 0.5" wider, so probably no major issue. But remember that these calculators compare based on tire metrics. Actual tire dimensions can, and do, vary from manufacturer.

Good luck!

295 width you will be fine. However, 45 series is pretty lo-pro.

In the end. No fitment issues. stock 20's are 275 width which is 10.8". 295 is 11.6" which makes the tire .8" wider. That's .4" added to the inside and outside when on a proper rim. You will be putting them on a narrower rim from what they are measured on so expect .25-.35" wider sticking out from stock 20's. It will be close to your fenders, but should still tuck if that's what your worried about

visually you wont be able to tell the difference, the aspect ratio is your concern, not the width

the tire calculators say they are the exact same size. im just not taking into concideration the rim offset of the 20's as opposed to the 17's...

The new ones will be 10mm wider, the aspect ratio(height) comes out the same due to the rim diameter change. As for the offset, that will have to be checked on the rim, the tire won't effect it at all. Technically, if the offset is the same on both sets of rims, the tire will stick to the inside & outside 5mm each.
