Texas Motor Speedway Sept 26th - group gathering?
alright well I pm'd badstrat and asked him to place the flyer that I also inserted into the original post someplace more visable so we can try to get a better turnout from this forum at this event. It would be cool to get a bunch of us out there for at least a minor meet and great. I have been on here for over 5 years and so far havent seen a thing setup for us down here in the midsouth. I know its short notice but its for a good cause and its a unique experience you should do at least once with every car you own!
probly somewhere in grapevine so we can shoot right up 114 to the speedway. There is a Hooters there... I would say that we all meet up there somewhere around 3-4pm depending on if you want to eat and stuff before we go out there. It will take about 20 minutes to get from the Hooters to TMS. Which means we should all leave there no later than about 4:20(ha-ha), so we can make sure to get our line to the gate in time to get in Lane Z to go around.
And on a side note, dont get all anxious and speed through the southlake/westlake areas on the way to the speedway along 114, the cops up there are always hip to whats going on at the speedway and I would bet they will be watching for speeders.
I also asked one of my best friends that has an 06 SRT Viper to come, if he can get out of doing his family duties that day(tough though with 6 kids!). Its been many years since he drove around the track with me... last time was in 1997, when the track first opened up and we both had 1996 Vipers, mine was black with silver stripes and his was white with blue. I got up to about 140 or so before I stopped looking at the speedo and started paying more attention to the other 30+ Vipers on the track, and we only had 1 pace car back then so we took full advantage of hanging way way back during the first laps till the pace car got almost all the way around and then all of us gunned it. For like 3 laps it was an all out race, three Vipers wide, all jockying around for position... it was the most fun I ever had out there.
But just remember that if you crash out there, your insurance will not cover you... best plan is to have your wreck towed outside the speedway and say it happened outside the oval somewhere. That actually happened 1 year to another guy with a Viper that I know. Big mess... so drive safe.
