Default bad night. question about locking diff.

i got in a really really bad situation last night.basically i had my frount driverside wheek off of a 10 foot drop into a river and i only had my right rear wheel spinning and not frount one even tho my 4x4 was on.

basically this scared the **** out of me and after 4 1/2 hours of pur hell trying to get it out i decided i want rear locking and possibly front locking diffs. how much does this cost and can the dealership install it.

thanks dan

Good news is, as the owner of a SFA vehicle, you CAN put a LSD or Locker in the front axle. The bad news is there are very few choices out there for AAM axles, compared to Ford and Dana.

You could go with a Detroit Locker (about $1100) in the rear and a TruTrac LSD ($550) parts before labor. IMO if your truck is a daily driver, you don't want a full time locker in the rear. I'd go with a set of ARB Air Lockers both front and rear so you can switch them on when needed and go full open when on pavement. Cost will be somewhere in the $2000 for the parts including compressor and then labor over and above that...

Auto lockers are just fine in the rear IMO. Anyone who says they handle poorly has never driven one.
