Front main seal
Looking for input ....
Is it unusual to have a front main seal go bad at 57,000 miles?
My dealer just replaced much of the top end because of a confusing cooling problem. They said the heads were warped, but in the end it was the radiator. Anyway, could the seal have been damaged during the process? The truck is a 2002 Ram 1500 QC 4.7. Plus, since the heads were replaced, the engine is knocking now.

did you get water in your oil due to the radiator issue? That would make sense why the seal is leaking and your getting a knocking sound.
Well, that's the thing. When I was overheating, and I took the vehicle to the dealer, I was totally surprised to hear them tell me the heads were warped. There's was no indication of water in the oil, I wasn't losing water, there was no "sweet" smell of antifreeze when the heat was on, no white smoke from exhaust, no white foamy goo on, or in the oil fill. They told me the engine failed compression tests.
When they told me the new heads were on, but the truck was still overheating, that just reinforced my belief that they were idiots. So, naturally, you can understand my suspicion.
