Default Question about 2005 FI Perfomance Kits...

Hello all,

I just bought my 1st Dodge since my old Omni way back when. It's a nice 2005 Ram 1500 Quad Cab SLT 4x2 with the 4.7L (and it's black, just like Henry Ford would of liked! LOL). I've been trying to find a air kit for it, but no one seems to carry ones for the 05s yet.

1) Will FIPKs (or the eBay versions) fitting a 2004 Ram 1500 4.7L fit my 2005?

2) I also need an eduction: which kit will give me more bang for my buck? The kits with the tube that stays ontop of the motor, or the ones that snake down along side the engine to gathter the air from under (I think they call them 'bypass")?

3) What can I really expect from changing out the stock airbox to one of these kits? Are they actually worth it? Are the ones on eBay close enough to the K&N (etc) ones?

Thanks from a newbie

Best bang for buck is always searching for name brands on ebay. I dont think there are any differences that would make an intake that fits the 2004 not fit the 2005 4.7. Minor things like the dipstick or underhood lights MIGHT be an issue, but other then that there really hasnt been many changes. They are worth it if you are looking for performance, if you are doing this for fuel economey than stick with your stock intake, you wont be able to justify the initial cost with gas savings. If you match the intake with exhaust than you will really feel a difference. I can feel a nice pick up in mine, better peels outs now.[sm=badbadbad.gif]

Thanks,

Let me add another question to mine: I've seen on eBay some of the air setups with a "bypass filter" also. What's the difference, and why the 'bypass filter' too?
