Default Proper tire size???

i have an '03 quad cab 4x2 - stock tire size is 275/55/20. i would like to go a bit wider, but don't want anything that requires spacers. my options are:
285/50/20 OR 295/50/20 - anyone know if i would need spacers for the 295 width? (i really doubt i'd need them for 285 esp if i'm going to a lower profile). anyone have any pics???
also, since my truck is only 4x2, i don't want it to look silly with wheels that are too wide (different if i had a 4x4). i'm also worried that since having to lower the profile from 55 to 50, i don't want the extra space in the wheel well to look silly either (i'm not looking to lower the truck to compensate). thoughts anyone??? pics would really help if anyone has either size on their 4x2... thank you!!!
