Going back to stock tires...maybe.
Right now I have some 33" maxxis buckshots mudders with about 35% tread left. And that number might be generous.
I am considering ditching the old road thumpers and getting some highway tires. I want some input on a couple of things.
How much could I resell the old tires for. Would someone even buy them?
What about MPG, I am going to be doing a lot of highway driving this winter and want to get some good rubber for that. Maybe someone could give me some numbers. i was thinking some 265/70r.
BTW I have 17's.

The Buckshots are a good mud tire WHEN THEY HAVE TREAD, and thats the thing with them, they don't have tread for very long.
Were a fairly popular tire amung my hunting club buddies a couple years ago as one of the local tire stores picked up the Maxxis line and pushed them at some very good prices. But most found they couldn't get 20,000 miles of good tread outta them and now you hardly see them in that neck of the woods.
I don't think you'd get much for Buckshots with <30% tread on them, but you never know.
As far as new tires, obviously a smaller, less aggressive tire would yield slightly higher MPG numbers. But don't go too small, or your RPMs on the highway at speed will be higher and negate any mpg advantage. The smaller the tire diameter, the more revolutions (ie. engine rpms) needed to go the same distance. Although these are small differences. 265/70/17s are basically 31.5x10.5 tires, will look kinda small on a full size truck, I'd kinda think you'd be happier with 285/70/17s which are about 32.5" x 11" tires...

I got 265/70/17s on my truck...they dont look small at all. They are the stock size. Got mine for 508 dollars mounted and balanced....and no road noise and really smooth ride....good mileage as well. Not really too agressive of tread, but work really well in snow and mud.
