Got off of work this morning and started the truck up and noticed a little hesitation which actually got worse. It ran fine when I went to dinner about 6 pm. Idling really, really rough and even sounded like I was driving a lame V-6 chebby something in reverse. So out on the more open road I tried opening it up some to clean it out and it would bog down and run rougher. Then the engine light blinked about 4-5times and the overhead gas computer kept going lower and lower from 15 mpgs to 9 mpgs WTF!!

sounds like something to due with the fuel, maybe a clogged or broken injector?

 

sounds more like you have a coil gone bad. had same problem w/ my 02 4.7
kept getting worse the more I punched on it.
replaced plugs but kept doing it. bought myself an Actron P9180 (money well spent) analyzer to diagnose codes. P0304 Code came back indicating misfire #4 cylinder. Pulled plug and it was badly fouled, Cylinder #8 followed soon after. Then I started getting the p0300 code.
also got the P0455 code for the lg evap leak. traced out the evap lines and found I inadverdently loosened the evap line behind the throttle body when I was changing the plug on #8
I just replaced coils on #4 and #8 and she's running like a raped ape again.....
