Well now I am stumped... I reset the tune on the truck and reloaded it with my partial shifts, WOT shift points and upped the idle 200rpm in drive ac off, 150rpm in drive ac on. Did the throttle calibration.

Now at idle in drive it skips from the mid 800s to the low 600s and it changes every time I stop at a light. When I take my foot off the brake though I move slowly up with no problems Here is where things get confusing, I drove it around for about 20min and everything at first was perfect, not one issue, but towards the end of the drive it started acting up again and was getting a little more touchy, not as bad as it was coming home but though, it was more controlable this time. Also on start up, it revs really high at first, like 1200rpms, then drops to about 500rpms, then back up to 800rpms and levels off.

I'll give it til the weekend before I remove it and send it back for the plate. Is there anything else you guys can think of that may be happening here? Am I running to lean now? My wideband is not on yet so maybe????

Alright well talked to dan again and Im sending it back to have the plate removed and set back to stock. He does not know why it does it but he is familiar with the problems I am having. He also mentioned that he may just eliminate the knife edge option all together.

Now my take on it is this, for a daily driver, the knife edge sucks ***, it is simply to touchy and jumpy with it on and is not very streetable. On the otherhand if this was a track truck, it be perfect, from a dead stop to WOT it REALLY woke things up and I mean a lot. So IMO I think it should still be available, just not for a daily driver. I'll be taking it off tonight and resetting the programming again, and hopefully if I send it out pretty quickly it will get back just as fast and I can try out one with a normal plate and see what that does. So thats it for now...

Overall Review:
85mm Ported Throttle Body w/ Knife edge:
- Do not use for street use or a daily driver, throttle is very touchy and basically all go all the time. No light throttle. High Pulsating Idle on Start up.

- Highly reccomend for track purposes. Excellent throttle responce, Faster acceleration, No hesitations.

Hopefully soon I will be able to go over one without the knife edge and I really hope it clears up these issues I'm having now...

I would hate for you to generalize that to every single truck out there. My TB is knife edged and I have none of those issues.

Bullet - The converter would not explain the surging or fluctuating idle in park and at start up though. It is jumping from 2000rpms to 300rpms back and forth til it levels out at 800rpms. The converter has no control over that.

Frog - I do not know why on your truck it works perfect and on mine its throwing my idle through a loop and has made things EXTREMELY touchy. Now I do love the pep it has given me and from a dead stop that throttle is ready to go and I like those parts of it, but as it is for daily driving it sucks. Maybe its because of the different years and since yours is newer maybe it can adapt better to the increased air flow than mine can. But even Dan said that it works on some and on others it does exactly what mine is doing now.

Am I generalizing it though, not really. Its a toss up if its going to work right or not. It is not an uncommon thing and quite a few other people have experienced what I am going through now because of it. I am not going to reccomend something if its a toss up on if its going to work right or not, specially when it appears that the solution is to simply not get a knife edged plate put on and putting the regular plate on is going to make it work right.

just a small comment, but could your problems be related to the fact that you had a pic with the throttle blade opened in your post? I was always told NOT to manually open a electronic throttle (like on the Hemi). I was just thinking this might be related. Maybe by opening the blade for the pic, something on the inside the of throttle motor was damaged?

I doubt that is the problem, I didn't force anything open however I think I may have stumbled on to something that also may have caused it since I was also getting a P2110 code with it as well.... For one of the diagnostic tests its says as a "fix":

Replace the Throttle Body Assembly. Disconnect the Battery when replacing the Throttle Body Assembly. After installation is complete, use a scan tool and select the ETC RELEARN function. Perform the POWERTRAIN VERIFICATION TEST.
So maybe with a new Throttle body on the older models it has to be reflashed or relearned to avoid some of the issues. Any idea if that is true or not? It would explain a few things...

It is worth a try but my truck did not need to have that done when I put on the tb. Just removed the old one, put on the new one and started her up. Never had an issue.
