93 will not hurt anything with the stock tune, it just isn't needed. The timing/fuel trim of the stock tune is designed for 89 octane fuel.
so are you referring to the peoples running 87?

I think he was.

Guys running 87 only for a long period of time have known to encounter piston problems. I'm sure you know this, but I'm reiterating for the guys that posted saying that's all they put in...

Yeah you aren't having problems yet, but it is something that happens over time.

I look at it like this. Around here, 87 is $.20 less than 91. SO $.20x 26g is around $5.20 more a tank and since when do you fill up a full tank. I usually fill up 20gallons at a time so for $4 more i would much rather pay the best i can.

Yes he is and I will agree with him 100%. We have had post on here, a long while back about this exact problem. Some get away with running 87 but most don't. Some get away with running Platinum plugs in the Hemi but most don't. To me it just makes sense to spend the extra couple bucks per tank not to have to worry about having the piston problem. I mean the factory recommends copper plugs and 89 octane for the Hemi so why chance it. BTW I run 93 with a tune but before the tune I ran 89.

So would 87 be bad for my beastly 5.9? That's all I have ever put in it since I got it, should I stop?
