Default '03 Ram w/Hemi knocking??

I have an '03 Ram with the Hemi and about 65,000 miles. Just this past week, I noticed what sounds like knocking coming from the motor. It's not the usual ticking I hear, it sounds like metal to metal. It only seems to do it on the first start of the day and only lasts for maybe 10 seconds or so. If I rev it, is knocks faster as well. any idea? Also would the powertrain warranty cover this if needed with the year and mileage and since it's an "internally lubricated part" as they put it.

Mine does it too, almost identical mileage. Oil level is fine -- I have to assume it's a Hemi thing. Piston slap maybe?

Thanks. My friend had an LS1 Camaro and said the older ones had the same thing and it was piston slap. They said is was normal but have fixed it since then.

Do you have a sound clip? If it is not the hemi tick we would probably need to hear it to try to diagnose it.

I don't have a sound clip so I would need to find a way to get it. I know it's not the tick because it has that for a long time. It definitely sounds like a metal to metal knocking sound. I listen now everytime I start it and it did not do it today. Not sure if it's got anything to do with the climate but we had a significant warmup here the last couple of days and it hasn't done it since?? I read some issues about the lifters causing this noise and it normally goes away after a while so hopefully that was it and it won't come back!
