I just finished my home made tonneau cover. I built it all from scratch. I made it out of plywood and 2x4's that were painted with Herculiner on top and the bottom was treated to a coat of black paint followed by 2 coats of polyurithane. It's held in place by ratchet straps for easy removal/installation. I think it turned out OK. Just wanted to let everyone know that you can do it yourself. This way I saved a lot of money and had some fun in the process.

nice work, where did you buy the spray on and the tools needed to apply it?

 

I bought the 2 gallons of Herculiner from Tractor Supply (sprayed the bed at the same time I did the cover) and the air gun from Eastwood Company. Other than that, I used a router (already had it from previous project) and a circular saw. The other things like tape and .75 mil plastic drop cloth I picked up at Home Depot. That was it.

Yeah, that's pretty innovative.

 

How easy/difficult is it to remove and put back on?

 

It's not that hard to take in and out. It just requires two people to lift since it's so wide.
