2005 2wd Leveled...more to come
If you get the stock shocks for a mega cab, they are 2 inches longer than your stock. I have a 2 inch leveling kit on my 02, with the stock shocks there was no movement, When I replaced them with the longer shock, my original ride came back.
And have you had any issues with the upper control arm hitting when you go over bigger bumps? That has been the only issue I have read about with longer shocks and it doesn't appear to happen with everyone.
I sent an email to Rancho to see if they had any suggestions for a proper length shock aside from the 2 inch longer ones. I haven't heard back from them yet.
As an update, I've decided that I will probably be going with the 295/70/17 Terra Grapplers. They have been quite a bit cheaper than the 305/70/17 everywhere I have checked so far. And they are only .5" smaller diameter and a little narrower. Hopefully I can get some new shocks soon and then get the new tires and alignment next week.

welcome to DF. nice in depth post. side note you dont have to have the switch for your fogs in the 05. i have a 7" wire ran between 2 relays which turns the fogs on when my parking lights are turned on. + fogs stay on w/ brights. what some may see as a - fogs are always on w/ parking lights and switch doesn't work to turn them off.
I put the leveling kit on about two months ago when I had to replace my upper and lower control arms replaced had moog parts put in. I just put the shocks on this past weekend, couldn't stand the lack of travel with the stock shocks. The kit I put in on "recommended" changing the shocks. I really have not noticed any hitting or rubbing noise yet, but I have only been driving it on the street and haven't encountered any large bumps. My rims are stock 17's and my tires are only one size up from oem. Sorry I can't give you any better info at the moment.
I bought the Rancho RS5000 shocks for the 2500. The truck rides much smoother now. The part number for the shocks is RS5279. I really should have done the shocks at the same time as the level. Saved some time and effort. Next up is the tires. Those should be on this next week.
I reckon I will just continue on this one thread. I got my new tires put on today. Nitto Terra Grapplers 297/70/17 on my stock 17x8 rims. It was dark when I got home so no pictures tonight. I'll try to get some in the morning if it's not still dark when I leave. Now it's starting to look like a truck!
I do have a question though and I may have to start a new thread to get more attention on it. I have very little space between the control arm and the inside of the front tire. Is that something that I need to worry about? As the tire moves over bumps could it rub there? And if so, what do I need...just some wheel spacers? I don't want to have to buy new wheels.

LOL pushy! I was complaining to my wife this morning about how it's dark when I get home and either dark when I leave or the truck has dew on it. So today I took some pictures of it when I got to work.
But I can't post them from here so I'll have to post them when I get back home tonight.
Ok...new PICS!!!
The original look in case you forgot from the first page:

And with thew level and new tires:

A different angle:

Closer on the tire:

And here is one of the space between the tire and the control arm I was talking about:

I need to get some real nice shots from good angles like some of you all have. But that what I have so far.
