Is this possible that my 5.9L V8 02 dodge Ram 1500 holds only 18-19 gallons of gas?

 

anything is possible if you arent the original owner.

 

most likly a 26 or a 21

 

If your only able to put in 18 or 19 gallons of gasoline then you must have 7 or 8 gallons still in there. Stock tank size is 26gallon HERE

If your hoping that it only holds 18gallons to better your fuel economy....I don't think so...lol

 

One time I wait until the reserve light come on,drive the truck for couple more miles and then fill up the tank. The most I can put in there was 18 gallons! Is there something that I have to check?

 

It is possible that the reserve is 7-8 gallons?

 

Yeah, the computer keeps a pretty large reserve, I have a 26 gallon tank, the light comes on at with 6 gallons left in it, and the needle is resting on E with 4 gallons left. I would imagine the reserve is set higher on the 5.9L.

 

I never pay attention to the overhead console except for temperature.
When my gas guage shows 1/8th of a tank i can put in 22 or 23 gallons, so my gas guage is right on. Usually i fill when it's at 1/4. It will take 19 or 20 gallons.

 

I just go until the engine stops running...

 

my reserve is 8-9 gallons. but i have a 35 gallon tank. maybe your gas gauge is just off? its not too uncommon i guess
