I've used octane booster to get rid of ping/knock from bad gas, but my mileage has always gone to hell afterwards.

Another idea I found today was mixing race gas with regular fuel. It'd be a little more expensive than octane booster but it should work much better. Any idea on what ratio to mix at?

Some people have had luck mixing the 140 octane AvGas -the purple colored fuel- with automotive gas; just watch out for the lead content.

personally, i wouldnt risk my engine by using boosters, and ****ty gas. its not exact, and theres no telling what could happen. the manual says to use 89 or higher, so thats what i use. you should be especially concerned with the octane you are using if you get a programmer. the advanced timing requires the higher octane, and you run a higher risk of messing something up if you dont run the right gas.

Only boosters that contain MMT and if used over a long period of time. Like Lucas Octane Booster. It also turns your plugs copper/orange.

I just found THIS neat article. it's worth taking a look at.

I saw a video on youtube that said if you add just 2 oz. of Acetone to your tank, then it does the same thing as using high octane gas. "Acetone makes your fuel vaporize better", is what the vid said. Can anybody bust/confirm this?
