Default getting headers need some info!

i had a thread a couple days ago about what programmer to get.. well since its my bday in a week im getting the SC for my truck and as well as some pacesetter headers from moes! i cant wait me and my buddy are gonna put them on at his shop and we are cutting the cats off while we are at it (good or bad idea)??... now i see when people get headers put on that their truck runs lean.. will this same thing happen to me? or is it certain years? i also heard that powerwires will even it out so its not running lean.. or will the programmer fix all this? and if it does run lean or rich what are my options to fix it? sorry i have a lot of questions just wanna make sure my stuff is set right!

IMO Keep the cats handy, when I did mine I Hated the sound of the exhaust a few days after I had the headers put in with no cats. After the cats were opened up to 3" in/out and reinstalled it was a 1000x better sounding/performing. Also how is Florida's emissions? Do they do a sniffer test or visual inspection?

Well the outlet for the headers is 3" the cats are either 2.25" or 2.5" so you would need to open the header side up (they dont make a 2.25/2.5" to 3" adapter I checked everywhere), and then what ever your dual setup is if you put the cats back on. For your duals though dont go over 2.5" from the headers/cats back, you'll loose way to much lowend with it.

The guy that did mine just stuck it in a chop saw and cut it so the openings were 3". But if you are getting rid of the cats altogether you wont have to worry about the cats just have to figure out how to fit your existing setup to the headers cause they will be different sizes

yea thats true... i wish i could run just straight headers haha.. but i think what we are going to do is he has a steal cone that you shove in pipes and it opens them up.. or ill just go down to the exhaust place by my house and have him put everything back together... i just dont know if i should cut off my tips and have turn down after my glass packs or keep the tips?? or just have straight pipe turn downs haha that would be insanely loud to loud
