Quick Question
Have any of you ever installed the overhead console on a truck that didnt have one originally? Someone here in town wrecked their truck and is parting it out and I was curious to see if it was possible.
My overhead console left side light got broken because someone punched the light and it popped the top of the little light switch thing off of where it's supposed to be...I thought it would be a quick "remove the thing, splice a new one on, glue, and be done with it" so I just went to the dealership to see how much it would cost, and they tried to tell me Id have to replace the entire thing for like $600. I was like Ok I cant do this today cuz I have work in a little bit, but I'll come back eventually.
Yeah...I think Im gonna check out some junk yards and just try to do this myself lol...but it really bothers me that the light doesn't work. and i have to leave the cover off because since the top of the switch cylinder is broken and pushed up, the spring doesn't keep the cover tight and it rattles with my sub and sounds like ****

Tlaw do you know if I could just splice the wires for the bulb on the left side and just glue a new top onto it?
Or do you not really understand what im asking? Im gonna do some work on my truck today and I can take some pics to explain better

Ice-I think I get what you mean. On the 94-97 the lights are notorious for breaking lose. The mounting bolt for the light breaks lost from the console. I have taken and used gorilla glue on the bolt mount and reset the light that way. That was on my moms truck and its still holding. That was a couple years ago to. As for te bulb I think you could do that. I don't think it would be a prob.
What sucks is a couple days ago a guy in the parts sale had a HomeLink overhead console for sale a couple days ago buy its gone.
AWE-I would make a small hole where you know maybe the wiring is going to go. Get all that don't then slowly cut it till its mounted. I would take some headliner glue around where its cut to so it won't start to sag later.

Serious question for you.....if they're parting out the truck, would you be able to find out if the truck had power seats? If so, all I'm looking for is the seat track (the entire mounting base for the seat) from a power seat. My driver's seat track has been broke for about 2 years now, but they're nuts for what they're asking for a new or even used one ($200-350). I refuse to pay that much....I don't really ever need to adjust my seat anyway. But I've been looking for a good deal on one forever. I'm willing to pay $100 at the most, and I would even throw you a few $ as a "finders fee".
hey spinfreak, email me your contact info and ill just give it right to him if he has that part. Its better without a middle man. awe.daniel@live.com
