Default New mod is on!!!

Well it appears out of all y'all, 'Feejay and Lxman hit the nail on the head (there is a reason why we appoint certain guys moderators around here).

Pyro is the benefactor, sent me a Cherry Bomb Extreme, came the other day, Fed Ex. Poor guy, I ain't got the heart to tell him I'm 100% hetero!!!!

Everything from the old FM50, which did have 3 holes in it which I didn't know till I cut it out, lined up perfectly. Only needed a 12" x 3" extension which was cheap enough at Advance Auto. Picked up a couple hangers too, just to tighten things up at a buck a piece.

Total out of my pocket - $15.14. Only issue I ran into was I wore an old holey muscle shirt, figured I was gonna get burns with the quarters under there being close. BAD IDEA! My arms and neck got a bijillion little burns on them! Better to donate a long sleeve shirt to the cause, in hindsight!

And I don't want to hear sh*t about the welds. There ain't any detectable leaks, and y'all try to get a 280# body with a bum shoulder under there!

Welds look fine. They aren't suppose to be perfecto, just as long as they hold. better squirt some High temp primer over the welds though.

Where the F is the vid?

Test drive was awesome! I will do a sound clip soon as I can borrow something that will do it better justice than my cell phone.

I believe it's actually quieter at idle than the FM50 (maybe cause the FM had holes in it, dunno) but much throatier when you give it gas.

Also, I've always posted that the FM50 doesn't have the drone that others report from other FM models. I've always said just a slight one at cruising speeds on the interstate. BULLSH*T, I never realized how much was there before! Much quieter in the cab with this muffler!!!

I was gonna snap a pic of the 5 year old FM50HD with the holes, but while taking a break after setting the new one up in place, before welding it, the garbage truck was heading down the road for pickup.

Wait wait wait... Your "hints" were pretty bad then... "Something that RH couldn't install but teach could if he hasn't already".... Teach always talks about his FM and cutout combo, and why couldn't RH put this on his truck?

Anyways, It looks good, welds are alright not horribly bad but how does it sound?? Need a video / Sound clip or something

Yeah, I didn't think about that, good idea 'dog. I'll have to pick some up today.

Oh, and btw, a gas kit for a Clarke 130 fits a Lincoln 140. I borrowed the kit and a bottle of gas from a buddy for this. I've never used gas on a mig before this, always used flux core. Welds are much cleaner, didn't have to grind at all.

I'm gonna have to break down and buy the kit and bottle for my Lincoln...

I'd never weld without gas, unless i absolutely had to. soo much easier/clearner/consistent with the bottle.

Honestly, I didn't think RH knew how to weld, but was pretty sure 'Teach did.
As stated, I'll do a vid soon as I can borrow a camera. My phone would be sh*tty. Is a girl I see from time to time down here has a nice digital cam, I'll call her this afternoon, she works 6pm-6am, so I don't want to call her too early in the day.

C'mon 'Froggy, what's wrong with a muscle shirt pic? Someone 'round here must think I look good in one.

Actually, this pic was taken when I had the shirt in question on, and I cropped out the 2" hole right over top of my big belly, immediatly...

Yep, I gotta agree with ya 'Feej. I grew up using either a 220 stick or acetylene, wasn't until about 2 years ago I used a mig, whereupon I said "f*ck this stick sh*t", and bought the little Lincoln. But gas is the way to go, already been on ebay looking at gas kits for it.
I only used gas this time, because my Makita sawz-all is in the barn in Ga. When I went to borrow one, the dude asked me if I wanted to use his mig because he had gas, but we found the kit fit my welder too...

I have had a brand new Hobart 220 Mig welder still in the box that I bought 6 months ago with brand spankin new Auto mask, gloves and full gas bottle. I just can't get the time to finish the 220 line from my garage. I really got to get to opening that box, So I can repair my badly mutilated trailer and re-do my exhaust.
