Default Wheel Width?

I'm going to buy my 07 1500 Laramie some new 20" wheels pretty soon but I'm stuck on which width to get. To be honest, I don't even know what width does exactly for the tire. The wheel I'm looking at comes in 8.50" and 10.00". The 8.50" Width has an offset of 10mm while the 10.00" has an offset of -24mm. I'd like my tires to stick out a little from the body but not too much to where it looks ghetto if you know what I mean. So to sum it all up, what does offset and width do and which would let my tire stick out a little more? I'm still running the stock Wrangler HP 275/60/20 tires if you wanted to know.

-Thanks

That is a great question I was just going to order mine and noticed the same.
Do you go with 20"X9" or a 20"X10" ?
I am going to run Monsters with the stock tires until I figure out what I want or ware them a little will be interested to see what comes back from everyone.

I did some more research on the offset so I understand it somewhat now. In a couple months I'll be adding on a 6" suspension lift and 35x12.50R20 tires so what width should I get for the wheels that will work best with my stock tires and my new ones later to come?
