hey i am new here and just wondering if anybody has ever heard of a tone starting up when you get between 55 and 70 mph. i bought the truck last sep and drove from chicago to reno and about a third of the way there i noticed a tone, i dont know if it is the tweeters from the sound system of an alarm but it deffinately sounds like something electrical from a speaker of some sort. not like a whining under the hood and it doesnt happen when i rev the truck or if i let off the accelerator at speeds above 55.

please if anybody has ever heard of this let me know

alt feedback . and check your ground from the bat to the chassy and power cable from alt to the bat

 

alright ill do that i was kinda thinkin a bad coneection but i didnt know. because none of the dummy lights had come on

 

I had this same thing happen. Do you have a GPS unit?? My Tom Tom has a speed warning noise. On busier, well known roads it beeps when you go above the speed limit. Sounds stupid, but you said it happens when your above 55. It had me for a few minutes until I turned the radio down to figure out what was going on.

 

no i dont have the gps but it does have an aftermarket remote start and security remote. my dad said it may be that but the wierdest thing is that i cant figure oput where the sound is coming from it sounds like it is coming from everywhere near the dash

 

sounds like you just need a noise filter on the stereo wiring.

 

Whats a noise filter, and shouldnt there be one installed i have the infinity system in it
