Default 4WD drivetrain Question

OK, so I know very little about 4WD issues with these 3 gens... My dad is looking at a 2003 loaded Ram, quad cab short bed with 73,000 miles on it. They are asking 15,900 for it... the one thing I would like to know do any of you guys out there have any issues with your drivetrains on your 4WDs other than the weak trannys?

Unless that truck is a diesel, $15,900 sounds like way too much for an '03 with 73 on it.

My local dealer had an '06 ThunderRoad QCSB 4x4 with 42,000 miles on it a couple weeks ago when I bought my mom's Journey. Asking, and I repeat ASKING price was $16,995 and I'm confident that someone coulda got them down at least $3000, you know how much play they got in used vehicles.
That price is terrible! Although I like the fact that the 03's don't have the EGR, it isn't very tunable compared to '04+ Hemi's and if it has LSD and it ain't blown up yet, it's gonna!!!

Your old man needs to shop, he can do A LOT better than that price. Even though the mileage is good for an '03 and even assuming it's mint, they are about $4500 high on that vehicle, it's an $11,500 truck at best...

Mines an 02 with pretty much everything except for the laramie stuff. I had 79k on it and paid 11 thousand. I still think I might have even paid too much. With 2wd especially.

Bought my 04 a year and a half ago for 10,000. Came with two sets of wheels, LineX, step bars, truck box, and a slew of other poo. It appears the only big issues with the dodges are with the reliability of the rear differential.

Seeing as a dealer about 40 miles from me has a half dozen 4x2 QCs in his ad today in the paper ranging from '03-'07 and the most expensive one is an '07 Hemi for $11,995, yeah, I'd say so...
