if its a C clip how does it come out with force? thats the same as the rear end no? you HAVE to remove the C clip b4 removal of the axle...or im guessing it flexes enough to be removed?

It is in a groove and is designed to retract further into the groove when it is forced against the housing when it is being forced out.

Yeah... I got in touch with a dodge dealer today and they actually had the clip in stock!! And get this... 45 CENTS!!!!!!! 45 cents holds all of your guys' 1500 front CV axles in!!! I really have no idea how or where the other clip went... I got in there and searched and searched but I can't find it anywhere... All I know is that the old axle was definately out of place as you could see the output shaft on the front diff housing. So I have been running the last 2 days no with no front axle on one side...

Actually GM has been doing it this way since they went to IFS back with the S-10's in the early 80's. The CV shafts bolted to a flange axle that is held in the diff with the same clips. The nice part was you could simply unbolt the CV shaft from the axle and swap it without popping a ball joint

I just replaced the drivers side axleshaft oil seal, no problem, but I can't get the oil seal out of the passenger side. They're different on each side, I can't get a slide hammer cause im in Fairbanks, AK and no one does tool rentals up here that I can find. Im gonna try a pry bar. fingers crossed.
