06 1500 Ram Stuck in 4WD
Hello all, I found this forum out of necessity this morning. I hope you can help me.
I drive an 06 Ram 1500 with a Hemi. I was out hunting this morning and needed to use 4WD to get out of the snow covered field. So I turned the **** and dash and drove like I have done hunreds of times before. Except this time when I turn **** to go back to 2WD the 4Lo light comes on. I tried shutting the vehicle off but it keeps doing the same thing. When in the 2WD spot it reads 4Lo in the 4Hi it is 4WD and in 4Lo it is 4Lo. Is it as simple as a bad switch.
Oh by the way, it was 18* this morning when I got back in the rig. Thanks, in advance. Shawn

I don't know how much help I am, but I'll throw out there the little I know....
I can't imagine this being the fix, but I know that in your older manual-shifter 4wd trucks, you have to back-up a little bit before it comes outta 4wd. Even my 04 Frontier was like this. The old cherokees are notorious (ones Ive come across), and our old 1ton pickup/worktruck is the biggest pain in the a$$ ever.
I can't give you personal experience from my Ram, 'cause Ive never been in a situation I needed 4wd.........yet
I do hear on here that the real cold weather affects the ****-turning 4wd (for lack of a better technical term, haha)
Maybe backing up a bit, working the wheels slightly, might work? Theres a buncha other guys on here that are awesome, should be able to help you out more than I can. Whenever you figure'er out, post up the solutions, so we all can learn sum'n
Good Luck!
Edit: you have a ram and a CJ, you prolly know all about what I just said. Good luck anyway partner, let us know!

This is the exact reason why I hate the stupid electric turn **** 4x4, I want to get rid of that crap and put a shift lever type of tcase in my truck!! The motor probably froze up on the tcase, Ive seen it happen many times before on other trucks, sometimes if you tap it with a hammer while someone inside works the **** in and out of 4x4.. worst case scenario most of them have a big slot in the side you can stick something in there and turn it manually out of 4wd
