allllllright, im tryin to change out my pass side front u joint, on an 04 Dodge 2500 gas, took me forever and a day to get the hub nut off, finally got that and now its F-in stuck, ive got a 5lb mini sledge im slamin this thing with, ive tried heat, i found a PDF form FSM im pretty sure theres nothing holding the outer hub on, any ideas? i just cant seem to get er done.. heres some pics for reference

Get a pry bar or old flat head screw driver and a hammer and just pry away. And when you put it back in put a little grease around the lip of the unit bearing so it wont get stuck next time you need to replace the u joint.

I've done a few and the easiest thing i found was to screw a couple bolts back in from the back that hold the hub in, not all the way, leave about 1/4" threads showing. Place an old bolt/extension/bar etc. in between it and something solid right by it, kinda like the picture shown above. Start the vehicle and using the power steering to help you, turn the wheel to push against the bolt you screwed in part ways. You may have to rev the engine to around 2k to get more power to the power steering and jerk it to the side a few times. This has always done the trick for me.

 

I looked at alldata, There really aren't any exploded views on it that would be useful.

 

haha thanks 05ramMan, but i guess the above solution will work some guys on pirate said the same thing, hopefully i didint F up my unit bearing with the heat, costs $300 smackers....so for future FYI 2500 guys DONT USE HEAT!! ill post pics if i get it...thanks alot everyone..
