Want to make a 2006 Ram 2WD better for Off Road
Btw you have a very nice truck. I was convinced it was 4WD just by the looks of it. How is it in the sand? That's my biggest concern. I live out on the beach and once I hit some soft sand my rear-end sinks quick and it's game over for me.
Just check into the different all terrains that are available out there. Check out the Nitto's I pm'd you. They are made just for the sand. They aren't the best on road, but you have to find a middle ground, hence the all terrains. It does help to have a little lift, just so you don't bottom out the truck if you go over a pretty big dune.( u run into that in Daytona down here sometimes) Also, a locker is the best thing you can do to try to make it through in 2 wd in the sand, especially if you're inexperienced. To be honest, for me, I've been a lot of places guys who have 4 by's haven't. I've been driving off road for many years that's why I have my ram and also my play toy for the woods. a lot of it is knowledge and knowing what you're truck can and can't do.
Sand is the one place I haven't tested my truck out.. I'd think that A/T's would be better for that situation, cause the aggressive tread on M/T's might dig you a hole rather then propel you forward..
